If you are facing any of these issues, then do not panic. We have provided possible solutions for fixing this issue.
Solution 1:  Boot Outlook in safe mode
If your Outlook gets stuck at a screen that reads “Processing,” then just quit Outlook and boot it in safe mode. Quit it again and re-open it in the regular way to resolve the issue. Here’s how:
  1. In the Outlook window, click on Close.
  2. Open Outlook in the safe mode. Depending on your OS, follow these steps:
    • Windows 10 users need to open the Start menu and enter the following text: Outlook.exe/safe.
    • Windows 7 users need to bring up the Start menu and enter Outlook/safe in the search box.
    • Windows 8 users need to open the Apps menu and click on Run. Enter Outlook/safe and hit the OK button.
  3. After launching Outlook in the safe mode, close it.
  4. Re-open it in the normal mode.
Solution2: Close any open dialog boxes
You are required to confirm specific actions before they happen. For instance, if you want to dismiss all the reminders for the first time, you will be asked to confirm it. If any dialog box remains open, then you cannot do anything else on Outlook. See if any dialog box has been left unattended.
Solution 3: Repair the Office Apps
Sometimes, repairing the Office apps may fix the screen freezing or hanging issue.
  1. Close all the open Office apps.
  2. Go to the Start menu.
  3. Click on Control Panel.
  4. Select Programs and Features.
  5. Go through all the programs.
  6. Right-click on your Office suite.
  7. Select the option called Change.
Solution 4: Update your Windows and Office
Outdated operating system software or Microsoft Office may be causing issues with your Outlook. To get the best out of Outlook, you need to keep it updated all the time. It is highly suggested to set Windows Update to download and install available updates on its own. You can manually check if any updates are available. Download and install the available updates.
