1: Examine the unusual action
Some unusual action is commonly seen in many damaged documents. This type of action is due to the damage done to the doc or to the arrangement on which the document is based.
This unusual action is based on the following:
·         Renumbering the document again and again in the current page.
·         If the document frequently adopts the page breaks
·         Format and layout is inappropriate in the document
·         On the screen, there are some obscure characters
·         Error messages pop-up when the document is opened.
·         Once you open, the file or computer stops answering.

If you are not able to open the document, then you should go for another option which is the second one.

Method 2: Examine other program and document

This happens sometimes due to other reasons instead of document damage. Follow these steps to remove such factors:
1.      Check for similar behavior in different documents.
2.    Check for likewise behavior in other MS Office program files.
The steps are shown on the top if any of these steps indicate that the problem is not in the document, then you should update Word, the Office suite, or the operating system that is running on the computer.
